5.14.8 Search
Along with all the managing notes functions detailed in the previous topics, the Notes Manager also offers you the powerful "Advanced Notes Search" feature. The search of the Notes Manager is a complete search engine designed to allow searching of notes by single or multiple parameters, with extensive filtering options, allowing you to quickly and easily find any of your notes.

As commented on the last topic Menus & Tools, the Search Pane of the Notes Manager can be opened from either the "Tools" menu, or from its icon at the Window Toolbar. Once you click any of them, the Search Pane is opened, and you can see it as is showed at the image below:

Is important to know that each one of the Search filters and functions showed at the image below is related to each other as an "AND" clause, when more than one are selected in the same search. This means that, if "item 1" is informed with "item 2", the search is performed as "item 1" AND "item 2". On the other hand, all parameters inside each filter are searched with an "OR" clause. This means that a search for Desktops "Default,Work" would be executed as "Default" OR "Work".

Each one of the Search filters and functions is going to be detailed at the items below:

1. Note text: Used to filter the search by a word or phase of the body text of the note. The search is done per term, and is not case sensitive. To search multiple terms, just enter them separated by a comma ",". The comma will make the terms to be searched with an "OR" clause.

When a search is performed by text terms, 7 Sticky Notes will automatically highlight (in yellow) the found terms at the "Preview Pane" of the note showed in the "Search Results", as showed at the image on the side.

2. Title Text: Used to filter the search by a word or phase of the note title. The search is done per term, and is not case sensitive. To search multiple terms, just enter them separated by a comma ",". The comma will make the terms to be searched with an "OR" clause.

3. Desktop: Used to filter the search per note Desktop Name. The search is done per term, and is not case sensitive. This field offers a drop down list that allows you to select any of the existing Desktop on 7 Sticky Notes. To search multiple Desktops, just enter them separated by a comma ",". The comma will make the Desktops to be searched with an "OR" clause.

4. Theme: Used to filter the search per note Theme Name. The search is done per term, and is not case sensitive. This field also offers a drop down list that allows you to select any of the existing Themes on 7 Sticky Notes, with preview icons. To search multiple Themes, just enter them separated by a comma ",". The comma will make the Themes to be searched with an "OR" clause.

5. Search Button: Executes the search with the selected filtering.

6. Attachments: Allows filtering the search by attachments properties. At these options, it is possible to filter per attachment name (also separated by comma "," to build an "OR" between the terms), per attachment mode (linked and embedded), per attachment type (files and folders), and per broken attachments (invalid path/non existent folder or file). All filters at the attachment options are searched with an "OR" clause.

7. Creation Date: Used to filter the search by Creation Date of the note. It is possible to specify a Start and End date and time for the search, and only notes that apply to the configured creation date period will be returned.

8. Position: Used to search only notes that are positioned within a specified location on the screen. This filter option is very complete, and you can specify all positions left, top, right, and bottom, matching notes which positions are egual, less and equal, greater, greater and equal, equal, or different to the number value. At the right of the options, is also available a "Monitors" button, that, when clicked show a menu that allows you to fill the filter boxes with the dimensions of any monitor you computer has.

9. Sleeping: Allows filtering by notes that are sleeping or not. If the search is done for notes that are sleeping, then it is possible to specify the wakeup time at the date/time selection boxes.

10. Alarm: Allows filtering by the notes' alarm properties. If the search is done for notes that are configured to alarm, then it is possible to specify the alarm time at the date/time selection boxes.

11. Title: Lets you filter by notes that have the title visible or not.

12. Always on top: Lets you filter by notes that are configured to show "Always on Top" or not.

13. Editing: Lets you find only note that are under editing, or only notes that are not under editing.

Once you finish filling the filtering options, just press the "Search" button to perform the search. 7 Sticky Notes will then start processing the search and will show a progress bar for the search execution. Once the search is complete, a new item will be showed at the Tree Pane called "Search Results", where all the found notes will be listed. Note also that on the list pane, a new column called "Desktop" is displayed, to show the name of the Desktop for all the searched notes.

With the searched notes showed at the list pane, you can then perform any options as you would with normal notes. Here is how the search pane looks like after performing a search for "Title = note":
